The One Stop Tour was an annual benefit concert that I founded my senior year of high school and organized for 3 consecutive years until COVID left us unable to continue.
The concert was meticulously designed to help everyone involved:
The entire event was student-run. This offered an chance for students to gain hands-on experience in putting on a concert with state-of-the-art equipment, a chance to earn service hours, learn how to deal with responsibility in a professional setting and begin to build their resumes. We also held auditions and chose 1-2 students to participate in each of the actual concerts themselves.
All of the money that we raised from the concert (tickets, concessions, donations, etc) was donated to a new cause every year.
It was open to the public. This provided us with an opportunity to bring the entire community together for a greater purpose.
On a personal level, I learned how to organize all aspects of a large scale event (idea conception, budgeting, delegation, marketing, setlist, practice, and so much more) and lead a large team in successfully executing our goals.
This project will forever hold a special place in my heart. Together, we touched the lives of so many people. I'm forever grateful to have been given the opportunity to organize these events. None of it would have been possible without each and every one of the volunteers and countless supporters. My biggest gesture of gratitude, however, has to be extended to Mr. Tom DiGiovanni. Without his encouragement, unending support and help, none of this would have been possible.
I'm looking forward to see what new projects the future holds.
Sending love always,
J.S.
