I read this book during my last semester of college (fall 2020).
A lot was going on at that time - COVID was a new phenomenon, I was commuting to classes from an off-campus apartment, I was recording an album, I was an intern with a digital marketing company, I was working part time as a social media manager for a restaurant, I was seeking out and applying for full time positions, and this was all on top of trying to get through finals and snag that diploma.
Fall of 2020 was a crazy time for everyone. We were all feeling stress, burnout, fatigue and doubts about what our futures would hold given the circumstances. This book reinvigorated my mindset and really helped me to overcome a lot of what I was going through at the time. Here are my biggest takeaways...
KEY TAKEAWAYS:
When we share what we were brought here to give, we are in alignment with our highest, most powerful selves
Having strong faith is a major key in transforming your life
When you are consistently in a state of gratitude, and aware of all the awesomeness that already exists, it makes it much easier for you to believe that there’s more awesomeness where that came from, and that this yet-to-be-manifested awesomeness is also available to you
The only failure is quitting. Everything else is just gathering information
Nobody who ever accomplished anything big or new or worth raising a celebratory fist in the air did it from their comfort zone
If you base your self-worth on what everyone else thinks of you, you hand all your power over to other people and become dependent on a source outside of yourself for validation
You are loved. Massively. Ferociously. Unconditionally.
You need to go from wanting to change your life to deciding to change your life
In order to kick ass you must first lift up your foot
One of the best things you can do to improve the world is to improve yourself
If you’re serious about changing your life, you’ll find a way. If you’re not, you’ll find an excuse
...
In order to change your life, your faith in miracles, and yourself, must be greater than your fears.

If you're in need of a boost, a mindset shift or just a reminder of how awesome you really are, this is your book. Jen Sincero gives it to you straight. Her voice comes through so naturally; Every page you read feels like you're getting advice right from the mouth of a friend.
I've read 2 books of the 4 in the "You are a Badass" series so far and can't wait to read the others. This book has definitely changed the way I live my life and I have no doubt I will be revisiting it in the near future. I hope it does the same for you!
Sending love always,
J.S.
